It’s nearing Chinese New Year and my team is slowly shifting gears to prepare for 2012. It started lazy with a slow warm up. With the activities filling our schedules, 2012 is going to be a roaring dragon year for us. 2011 was a warm up and 2012 is time for us to get really serious and move into massive growth. Many new and exciting activities will be appearing in 2012 and we look forward to sharing them with you.

I love the energy of a new year, full of possibilities and dreams. Its the time to map out your annual goals and dreams and see them actualize into reality. In fact, I strongly believe everyone should start their year with hope and belief. And these are the three main reasons why.

1) We are all here to grow and progress

Too many people spend too much time wondering what their life purpose is and eventually paralyzes themselves in the journey. Everyone’s life purpose is to grow and evolve and eventually contribute to mankind in their own way. Since we are all here to grow and evolve, then progression is the only pathway that we must take in every year.

With hope and belief, you will push yourself to take bigger leaps and soar with your desires. Many of us actually achieve our hopes and desires, however the problem is many of us set too low goals and do not push ourselves to reach for our unlimited potential. In order to achieve the un-imagineable, you have to drop all the limiting beliefs and focus most of your time for what is possible.

2) Life goes in cycles

Life is a continuous pattern of ups and downs. It is simply a projection of our thoughts and ideas. Every down is designed to help you soar for the next big spurt of growth. Many of us get too emotionally entangled in the fall and become depressed. This means that they are wallowing in their sorrow instead of seeing the lesson in the situation.

If 2011 has been a tough year for you, take a step back and analyze if there are any recurring patterns that keep pulling you back. If they are, you can only progress if you focus on eradicating those negative patterns. Your life will only progress if you are willing to go throw and learn and grow from these situations.

Our minds are so much more powerful than we give it credit. Many people think that life is occurring then our thoughts follow it. What if it is the opposite way? For some people, it may be exceptionally challenging and you can practice this.

To help you focus on the positives. Practice this every day: When you wake up in the morning and before you head to bed, why not spend 10 minutes thinking and imagining your ideal life? Can you imagine, feel and experience it happening? Practice this for 20 days and I am sure that you will see results within a very short time.

2011 has flew past our eyes within a very short time. It has definitely for me. How has your year been? Has it been an amazing year for you? Or are you feeling frustrated and upset that another year has flown past?

Are you feeling as stuck as the SMRT Trains? Where it keeps breaking down and slowing down? Has your life has been a cycle of constant breakdowns? How can you change this cycle?

For me, it has been an amazing year of ups and down and massive breakthroughs. I set the intention of hitting one million in 2011 and I am happy to say that we are very near it, nearly $900,000. We jumped from $160,000 (6 months performance) to $900,000 within one year. So exactly changed?

I am going to share 4 key tips on how you move from broken down mode to acceleration speed.

1) Set Outrageous Goals

Start your year by setting crazy and outrageous goals that scare you silly. Start the year with a big bang by setting goals that excite you and even if you have no idea on how you are going to do it, just do it. Take that goal and live and breathe it. Paste it everywhere and keep taking one step ahead and even without knowing it, you will be nearly there.

2) Focus On What Is Important

There are certain components of your business once you improve it, it will skyrocket the results. Identify those sections and spend 101% improving those elements and watch your sales increase. Many business owners focus on the wrong things and do things that they enjoy and therefore, business keeps increasing tiny steps bit by it. For business, you want to take the massive leap and shift, not tiny step by step.

Be real and honest to yourself about your company progress. If it is not progressing as quickly as you want, and nothing changes, then your business will continue spluttering along. You have to focus on the important parts of your business. Even though we may not be 100% ready for everything, we focus on giving our students easy to apply information, an interactive experience to understand lessons and a community to support them for the rest of their lives. Spend 70% of the time on marketing and being infront of your future clients. Monitor and evaluate every marketing channel and give it a dollar per value to compare effectively. Tweak and improve every marketing collateral and refresh it every 2-3 months.

Last week, I was in Los Angeles attending Anne Mckevitt’s Business Evolution Summit Seminar and these are the key take-aways:

1) Take Risks in Your Business and Life

The wider your comfort zone, the more you will grow in business and life. Many people prefer to stay in their comfort zone because it feels comfortable and they do not have to feel stressed. However, it also means that your ability to live life is limited.

I remembering reading a quote: The minute you keep facing your fears is the minute you live your dream life. (I probably said it slightly wrong). And I chose to take activities that would scare me silly and force me to face fear. It helped me make crazy decisions, like quit my job and start my seminar business because I learned how to deal with that negative voice in my mind.

How can you get out of your comfort zone today and for the rest of your life? How can you choose to be uncomfortable to live your dream life?

2) Focus and Follow Through

Focus is the key killer of most business owners because many love to dabble in new things and get bored easily. Because of this characteristic, many business projects never get completed on time too. If you do any task, you need complete focus and a strict deadline. You need to set aside time and effort to finish the project quickly and also check that your vendors or staff have done it correctly.

Especially when you have a team, there is a tendency to assume that they will do it correctly for you. However, you need to double check and ensure that everything is done as desired.

If you have the power to focus and follow through, you will be able to complete many profit making projects within a short time, which means more money!

3) Be Creative

A business is about standing out and generating interest. Most businesses are seriously too boring with no unique positioning, therefore they blend into a boring sea of thousands of companies. And they are often broke and stressed.

Its time to follow your heart and believe that YOU can make money at the same time

Its a big problem that many people feel that if you want to follow your passion, you cannot make money. Which personally I find it sad because we can have it all, a business that you love and earn good money. It is time to shift your mindset and adopt a new paradigm about the possibilities. Many successful entrepreneurs shared about their business which they absolutely love and are multi-millionaires.

What is even more important about this is that you then become the beacon of hope to others that they can live their dream lives too. When a person is inspired, they can do the impossible. Then you uplift others in living their dream lives. Change occurs when you change yourself and inspire others, not by hoping to change others first without changing yourself.

Imagine a world full of people living their passion. Wouldn’t we be much happier, have less crime and happier families and relationships? It is time for you to start pursuing your dreams in a tiny tiny way. One tiny step ahead would amount to a lot over time.

If you want to up-level, you have to let go of your crap

Ali gave the example of reading in Oprah Magazine about a Lady who decide to leave her unhappy relationship finally. When she finally did it, lots of good things came into her life. She commented, it was as if God wouldn’t give her blessings until she let go of the crap in her life. I agree with it. If you are feeling unhappy about a relationship, job, friendship, etc, it is time to let go and move on because God will only allow blessings into your life once you take a decisive step to sever the negative activities from your life.

If you are feeling stuck, take tiny steps to move out of the uncomfortable situation. You need space to allow new better things into your life. Give it time and God will bring them into your life. We can only allow a specific amount of activities in our life and as long you do not let go of the negative, there is no space for the positive in your life. What can you let go today?

When everything is crumbling, you are ready for your next breakthrough

Everything in your life now is perfect, even though you are feeling the pits. Take a deep breath now. Know that you are taken care by God in any moment.

When “bad” situations occur, it is because God wants you to master a lesson to move up to the next level. Take a step back and analyze the situation and seek to understand what must improve to overcome this situation. Whenever my business takes a hit in anything, I know that we are ready to move up because we always learn something valuable from it.

We always sit together and analyze what is the issue. Then I relax and wait for a stronger message to appear, sometimes a mentor appears (it happens very often) or we come out with an amazing solution to rectify the situation. And my business always skyrockets to the next level. Life is simply a series of lessons for you to live your true potential.

On the other hand, many “bad” things could be occurring to move you to your rightful pathway in life. God is creating chaos for you to wake up for your zombie slumber to follow up, to stop tolerating life and really live your passion. My life was in complete chaos before I stepped into my true path of launching my online business and eventually becoming a speaker in It. When I looked back, it was as if my entire life was created for me to step into this path and some chaos had to occur for me to leave my corporate job and start my own business.

If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, stop worrying and become detached for a minute. Analyze what is the lesson here? What can you master to improve yourself? Or are you following your heart? If not, how can you start doing so?

• How will your ideal work / month look like?
• Which countries do you want to work in?
• What is the ideal budget during these months of work/ holidays?

Once you have these questions, then you become clear on how much work you need, how you plan to deliver and how to work with your clients.

For instance, I know a couple who spent a month in Vienna and the lady does coaching and because she was clear that she wanted to become mobile, she moved her clientele on skype and worked with them. She is also sharing her information online so that people can access it without having to be in person.

This planning was possible because she knew her end goal and she could build her business around her lifestyle goals.

With these key tips, you will be able to conceptualize, launch and execute a business that earns good money while being mobile at the same time. As they often say, many great businesses started with a seed and  I hope that I planted a seed of interest in you.

Once you have a prospect, then you move to the next step.

The first meeting, your goal is to speak as little as possible because you are digging information about your prospects and using that information to formulate a marketing plan for them.

You need to know why they are looking to hire a consultant and what is the end result that they hope to achieve.

• Do your research

Now that you are a bit more familiar with them, you need concrete data to reinforce your recommendations. Find out the number of people searching for their products / services and use these data to inform them how much money are they losing out. Do a competitive research to compare them against the competitors to understand why they stand.

People are always motivated by fear of loss and losing out to their competitors and these pieces of information will trigger them to take action.

• Do a proper pitch

The worst thing is to go the second meeting and not excite the prospect. You need to craft a presentation that excites their senses and shows them the money and the powerful branding that they enjoy. You build up the desire and show them that hiring you is the only way to reach that destination.

At the end of the presentation, they need to be salivating and ready to take out their credit card or cheque book.

• Events are always more than being about the content

Firstly, I would like to describe the internet marketing conference. It was delivering the latest internet marketing trends and tools to get found on Google, iTunes and even mobile.

It was full of the techie people and some of the language, I didn’t even understand.  I did learn some cool tricks and techniques in internet marketing however the general organization of it could be improved. I spoke to some of the attendees and they said that they expected to get a bag of goodies and nothing was provided.

What I learned is that you often have to exceed your customer’s expectations because people expect the basics and you have to provide more than that to tip the satisfaction point.

In comparison, Ali Platinum retreat, provided all the expectations, good content, a beautiful file and even threw in a surprise “ free flow of drinks” for the attendees at the end of the first day.

They went beyond the expected and naturally, this was well-received and people were pleased.

Lesson:  In delivering your product / service, always deliver beyond expectations and throw in surprises to delight your customers. In a time of multiple choices, you have to stand out to become the preferred company.
